Foxes Complete Sweep of Cougars on the Road

The Foxes may have traveled light to Provo Utah this past Saturday, but they did it with vigilance as they thwarted the BYU Cougars hopes of producing their first home win of the season on the return leg of their two game inter-conference series with the club.

sideHaving only two subs available by game time, and a few key starters missing, Real Colorado looked troubled for the first 10 minutes of the match.  More so, when the center official called for a penalty for some light contact at the edge of the box until Miguel Rosales stepped up and saved the initial shot and then some help in the clearance from his defense.  Still the Cougars would go into the locker rooms up 1-0 at the half courtesy of a goal from Jace Green in the 34th minute.

Second half showed a little more possession by both clubs until the 65th minute when Alex Tancozi who buried it far post to bring the match level again.  Three minutes, last weeks Player of the Week, Oliver Gore, was pulled down inside the box by a BYU defender.  The official’s whistle blew and all looked certain he would point to the spot, but instead ruled an offensive foul and awarded the Cougars with the kick instead.

Undaunted and looking more dangerous, the Foxes continued their runs until John Rehl found Gore unmarked on a cross into the box.  Ollie would then side step a defender and place the ball far post for the lead in 76th minute of the match.  BYU would then poor on the pressure for the remainder of the match, but Rosales stood steady in goal.  The Cougars final shot of the match in extra time saw Rosales make a save and a quick counter with a punt to a waiting Gore just over midfield.  Desperation had BYU keeper some 35 yards off his line and when he had no play on the ball took down Gore and luckily for his sake only walked away with a Yellow for the challenge before the Foxes continued to sportingly keep play in the corner until the final whistle.

The Real Colorado Foxes will continue their road swing throughout the month of June taking on Kansas City, St. Louis and Winnipeg before returning home to face Springfield July 6th and 7th at Shea Stadium.
