Foxes 2013 Home Opener, A Real Success

After falling just short of a come back last Tuesday night in the US Open Cup to the Georgia Revolution with a traveling roster of just thirteen, the Real Colorado Foxes wanted to turn things around and give their fans something to cheer about as they opened their 2013 campaign in the USL’s Premier Development League.

From its early tailgate, where players took time to interact with their fans to the game itself, both Foxes and Fans were “All In.”  And though both clubs had very talented squads, the home field advantage of Shea Stadium was on the side of the Foxes.

Quality play from the beginning provided the Foxes with the edge to pull ahead early in the first half. Alex Tarnozci scored the game winner in the 25th minute, slotting the ball bottom right with a finesse shot. Though the Foxes scored early on the match the BYU Cougars continued pressure and gave a strong performance as well.

While goal keeper Miguel Rosales, had a couple of quality saves to aide in the victory and preserve the shutout, it was Gore Oliver who rounded out the scoring with two goals, including a cracker of a shot in stoppage time, helped secure the Real Colorado Foxes with a solid three points to start the campaign in the second half.

Assistant coach Herman Sullivan pointed out "We stuck with our plan right from the beginning and it paid off".

Real Colorado returns to action at home June 1st and 2nd with a two game series against the St. Louis Lions (0-2) at Shea Stadium.  Tickets are still just $5 for adults and $3 for youth.  For more information check out www.rcfoxes.com.
